Overcoming Overwhelm: Taking Control in Stressful Times

We’ve all experienced moments when life feels like it’s moving too fast, and we can barely keep up. Whether it’s school, work, or personal responsibilities, feeling overwhelmed is part of the journey. But here’s the good news—you can regain control. By breaking things down and focusing on what you can manage, you can tackle that overwhelming feeling one step at a time.
Prioritize and Simplify
When you’re overwhelmed, everything can feel equally urgent. But not every task is of the same importance. Take a deep breath, write down all of your tasks, and then prioritize them. What absolutely needs to get done today? What can wait? Focus on the most important tasks first, and don’t be afraid to let go of things that aren’t essential right now.
Break It Down
Large tasks or deadlines often feel overwhelming because they seem too big to handle. Instead of looking at the entire project, break it into smaller, more manageable steps. Tackling these smaller tasks one by one will give you a sense of accomplishment and help reduce that overwhelming feeling. Remember, progress is progress, no matter how small.
